UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:        Contact with organic materials can cause spontaneous ignition.  Contact with metals can evolve hydrogen, a flammable gas.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID INFORMATION:

SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.  Wash exposed areas thoroughly with soap and water.  Get  medical attention.

EYE CONTACT: Corrosive to eyes.  Flush with water for 15 minutes and get medical attention.

INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting.  Give milk or whites of eggs and  water to dilute.  Get medical attention Immediately.

HEALTH HAZARD DATA:

THRESHOLD LIMIT VALUE: 1MG/M3

PROCEDURES IF MATERIAL IS SPILLED OR RELEASED; Use protective equipment to avoid contact with skin or eyes.  Neutralize spill with soda ash.  Flush area with water using care. Un-neutralized acid evolves heat when mixed with water.

REACTIVITY DATA:

STABILITY:       Stable

INCOMPATIBILITY:  Hydrochloric Acid is highly reactive and capable of igniting finely divided combustible material on contact.  Reacts violently with water and organic materials with the evolution of heat.  Extremely hazardous in contact with many materials, particularly carbides, chlorates, fulminates, nitrates, picrates, powdered metals and other combustible material.  Attacks many metals, releasing hydrogen gas.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID:  Extreme heat

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS:  Extreme temperature may release fumes.

PRECAUTIONARY LABELING:

CAUTION! DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY.  Many chemicals in concentrated form will cause irritation of skin and eyes.  If skin is contacted, wash immediately with soap and water.  For eyes, flush with clear water for 15 minutes and if irritation persists, get medical attention.  If ingested, get immediate medical attention.  FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.  This product has been specially formulated and manufactured for the control of industrial, municipal and commercial water problems, or for a specific industrial use.  It should be used only according to control procedures established for each specific application.
